Body Sculpting, Slimming & Inch Loss (FAQ)
What is Ultrasound Fat Cavitation?

Ultrasound Fat Cavitation is a relatively new aesthetic treatment. Fat Cavitation is a body sculpting treatment with no anesthesia, no scars, no discomfort, no down-time and presents a risk-free alternative to liposuction. The result is instant loss of fat cells. Using leading edge technology it converts fat cells into liquid which can then be naturally drained by the body’s own natural filtration system. When the treatment of ultrasound fat cavitation is followed by lymphatic drainage the process is faster, as the drainage is very effective at eliminating liquids.

Generally one fat cavitation treatment lasts 15-20 minutes where a single part of the body is treated. 72 hours must pass between each session so that the body can eliminate the fat. The minimum suggested number of fat cavitation sessions is between 6 and 10.

How does Ultrasound Fat Cavitation work?

A fully trained therapist will apply a specially designed hand piece to your skin. The hand piece will then transmit low level ultrasonic waves which consist of compression-expansion impulses that travel in high-speed cycles. This back and forth cycle then causes an infinite quantity of micro-cavities or micro-bubbles that gradually enlarge. This progressive enlargement finishes as micro-bubbles start to collide and implode, producing shock waves that favour emulsification and elimination of fat tissues (this phenomena is called “cavitation”). The liquid is then easily vacuumed out from the body using the lymphatic and urinary system.

What is Radiofrequency?

Radiofrequency (RF) energy is a new and promising technology for non-surgical tightening of the early signs of loose or sagging skin. RF is best suited to patients with mild to moderate sagging of facial tissues, usually those in their mid-thirties to fifties, with any skin colour. It is commonly used to treat the forehead, under the eyes, cheeks, mid-face, jaw line and the neck. RF can also be used in conjunction with ultrasound cavitation to aid in further fat breakdown and also to tighten the skin in the same area the cavitation treatment has taken place.

How does Radiofrequency work?
  • The hand piece is slowly rotated over the target area transmitting radio waves through the upper layers of the skin to the dermis, heating the dermis to between 40 & 50 degrees Celsius without burning the skin surface.
  • Tissue Retraction: The generated heat causes local contraction of the collagen fibres, to immediately tighten the skin.
  • New collagen formation: By heating the dermis, new collagen production is stimulated. This tightening effect is delayed and may take from 3-6 months to be visible.
  • Improved circulation: RF will also improve the blood and lymphatic flow. This helps with a better oxygen supply and greater toxin clearance to further reduce the effects of aging.
What happens to the released fat?

After disruption of adipose cells, the fat in the form of triglycerides is released into the interstitial fluid between the cells, where they are enzymatically metabolised to glycerol and free fatty acids. Water soluble glycerol is absorbed by the circulatory system and used as the energy source, whereas the insoluble free fatty acids are transported to the liver and processed as fatty acids from food.

What is the treatment like?

The fat cavitation treatment does not require any special pre-treatment. It starts with circumference measurement of the target body area, continues with circular movements of the applicator over the treatment site, and is finalised with another circumference measurement.

The duration of treatment session normally takes around 15-20 minutes depending on the size of the area and the thickness of the fat layer. 6 to 10 sessions at 3 days intervals are recommended in order to achieve a notable result, but further treatments may be needed to attain your desired silhouette.

What will I feel during the treatment?

The treatment does not require anaesthesia. Most of the clients consider the procedure painless and comfortable. There may be, however, a slight discomfort due to the specific noise spreading inside your body, but it poses no harm and disappears as soon as you are not in contact with the applicator. You may also experience a little warmth during the treatment. If it turns burning hot, immediately request some extra ultrasound gel to be applied.

What can be treated with the Ultrasound Fat Cavitation system?

Slim Now offer cost effective and professional treatments including:

  • Fat & Cellulite reduction
  • Skin tightening and fat melting (where bipolar radio-frequency is combined)
  • Body Scuplting
  • Lymphatic drainage (vacuum treatment)
Who is suitable for Ultrasound and Bipolar RF treatments?
  • Most people are safe to have the treatment
  • Your trained therapist should be able to determine your suitability
  • Consult your doctor if you are not sure
  • People with cardiac and vascular diseases, pacemaker carriers and women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid undergoing the procedure
Is Ultrasound Fat Cavitation painful?

No, cavitation is a painless treatment. Mild redness may appear occasionally but will be highly unlikely to cause any actual pain. The heat from the hand pieces felt during the treatment is perfectly tolerable.

Is Ultrasound Fat Cavitation a safe treatment?

Yes, it is a nonsurgical procedure without anaesthesia, it is non-invasive (no cutting, leaves no scars or the need for any post-operation course) and no downtime should be experienced after the treatment. Due to specifice ultrasound parameters of energy levels ensure selective damage to fat cells only & does not interfere with any other organs.

Can I expect any side effects?

There is a slight possibility of mild side effects such as transient redness, excessive thirst, and nausea immediately after the treatment which always resolves by drinking water. They are all short-term effects that disappear in a few hours to a few days. Even though the studies have proven the treatment safe, the cavitation is not be used in clients with an acute illness, comprised liver function, severe bleeding tendencies, pace makers, or during pregnancy.

What Are the Expected Treatment Results?

The cavitation treatment yields immediate and long lasting results. Most of the clients experience 2 to 10 cm of circumference reduction after a single session with increasing results after each visit. The results may vary with different tissue structure, treatment area, age, metabolism, medications, and changes in hormones. Proper diet and increased physical activity will certainly improve and help to maintain the results.

Which are the areas where treatment is more effective?

All those areas with localised fat: thighs, abdomen and buttocks are the most appropriate but there is no real limitation as to areas of the body.

Can you lose weight with ultrasonic fat cavitation?

Cavitation is not a method to lose weight but to reshape the body. It is particularly indicated for the reduction of adiposity, the famous “love handles” that won’t go away with diet and exercise.

Are the results of ultrasonic fat cavitation similar to those of liposuction?

Yes, because it removes cellulite preventing this from recurring in the treated areas, without damaging the vascular system.

The fat is a solid substance, how can it be eliminated through the urine?

Because ultrasound cavitation causes an emulsification of fat, converting it into a substance easy to eliminate through the urinary and the lymphatic system.

Are there any lifestyle restrictions after the treatment?

For best results you should refrain from any alcohol consumption for 48 hours after the treatment. Alcohol consumption during this period may prevent your liver from removing the deactivated fat cells from your body (as the liver will assign priority to removing the alcohol from your blood).

Must you follow any guidelines before or after undergoing ultrasound fat cavitation?

We recommend a low calorie diet and drink at least 1 glass of warm water before and after the session. Drinking warm water is a necessary part in order to eliminate the fat. Regular exercise such as walking or other aerobic activities should also be maintained in order to help the system to naturally process the fat after the treatment.

How much time should elapse between one session of ultrasound fat cavitation before another?

The body eliminates the fat of a single session in approximately 2 – 3 days, so we recommend an interval of around 3 days between each session.

Number of treatments and treatment frequency for each application:
  • Ultrasound Cavitation: 6 – 10 treatments spaced 3 days apart
  • Skin Tightening: 6 – 10 treatments spaced 3 days apart
Dermal filler (FAQs)

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are used for facial aesthetic treatments and are injected into the skin. They are designed to effectively reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, contour and create volume, and to revitalise the skin. Dermal fillers are based on Hyaluronic acid (HA) which is a substance that naturally exists in your body.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule that exists naturally in almost all living organisms. It binds water and can act as a lubricant and shock absorber in movable parts of the body such as joints. It is also important for the transport of nutrients and in regulating water balance in skin.

How do dermal fillers work?

By  boosting the skin’s supply of hyaluronic acid, dermal fillers revitalise and add volume to the skin, instantly diminishing the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and giving a natural softer look. Dermal fillers are a soft injectable gel consisting of stabilized, non-animal hyaluronic acid. The gel is tissue-friendly and closely resembles the hyaluronic acid that exists naturally in the body. It is long-lasting but not permanent.

What are the benefits of dermal filler?

Dermal filler injections provide an easy way to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, smooth the skin and give a more youthful appearance. The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 to 9 months. Dermal filler injections can give a natural looking result that does not affect facial expression.  As your face changes over time, dermal fillers allow you to control you looks subtly as you age.

What areas can be treated?

Dermal fillers can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin.

The most common areas treated are:

  • Nose to mouth lines (the nasolabial folds)
  • between the eyebrows (the glabella lines)
  • lips (adding volume and shape)

What does dermal filler treatment involve?

Before

During the initial consultation at Punarnawah Medical & Research Centre, Jaipur, Dr Geraldine Jain will discuss your  treatment expectations. After discussion of what you wish to achieve and assessment of your treatment needs, the doctor will recommend which dermal filler treatment is most suitable for you.

After the consultation, and if you are happy to proceed, we  will help you complete a medical history form and you will need to sign a consent form before treatment can progress.

During

Dermal filler is injected into the skin in small amounts using a very fine needle. The gel provides natural volume to smooth away the appearance of lines and wrinkles, enhance facial shape, or create fuller lips. Dermal filler products improve the elasticity and texture of skin, restoring and maintaining the skins hydrobalance.

The treatment is quick, typically taking about 15-30 minutes. Treatment with dermal fillers do not affect facial expression and the benefits can normally be seen instantly.

After

Dermal filler products are biodegradable, which means they will naturally disappear in the body. To ensure an optimal and long lasting result, a top-up treatment is recommended 6-12 months after your initial treatment. Discuss  when a follow-up appointment may be appropriate.

After a treatment some reactions might occur, these include; are slight redness, swelling, itching, bruising, pain and tenderness. The reactions are generally mild to moderate and usually disappear shortly after injection. They typically resolve spontaneously within one or two days, but for some treatments they may last longer.

How long does a dermal filler treatment last?

One of the great advantages of dermal filler treatment is that the effects are long lasting but not permanent. Duration depends on many factors, such as the individual’s skin type, skin condition lifestyle and age. After the initial treatment, follow-up sessions are normally recommended around every 6 to 12 months depending on the individual and the treatment. A treatment of the lips lasts about 6 months.

Can everybody use dermal fillers?

Most people can benefit from dermal filler treatment. If you wish to;

  • reduce lines and wrinkles
  • create more defined or fuller lips,
  • define the contours of your face, such as chin or cheek,
  • boost your skin’s vitality, for a healthier more hydrated skin tone (e.g.
    face, hands, neck or décolletage)

Dermal fillers should not be used in or near areas where there is or has been skin disease, inflammation or skin related  problems. Dermal fillers have not been tested in pregnant or breast-feeding women, Individuals with medical conditions that lower the body’s immune response or individuals undergoing therapy that is immunosuppressive may be more prone to infection by a skin injection procedure.

During your pre-treatment consultation, you should thoroughly discuss your medical history with our doctor .

Does dermal filler treatment need pain relief?

Generally, pain relief is not necessary when injecting into the skin to correct lines and wrinkles. Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the area for a more comfortable treatment experience.

The lips are a highly sensitive part of the body and, therefore, at Punarnawah Medical & Research Centre, Jaipur we only use dermal filler products with local anaesthetic lidocaine included for a more comfortable treatment experience.

Are there any risks with dermal fillers?

More than 10 million treatments have been performed since the launch of Dermal fillers in 1996. Product related reactions are rare. There are some injection related reactions which may occur after any injection; they typically resolve spontaneously a few days after injection to the skin, within a week after injection into the lips. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising or tenderness at the injection site.

After lip enhancement, lips may swell for up to a week, but this typically reduces after two to three days.

Dermaroller Collagen Induction Therapy (FAQs)
What is Dermaroller therapy?

Dermaroller therapy is commonly known as Skin Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy and is designed to trigger new collagen synthesis in the skin, leading to younger, brighter and healthier-looking skin.

As the Dermaroller is rolled over your skin, numerous, ultra-fine micro-needles designed to penetrate through the epidermis create microscopic punctures on the skin’s surface.

By opening the skin in this way you not only dramatically increase the penetration of any topical product, increasing its efficacy, but you also create miniature perforations that stimulate the skin’s healing mechanisms, increasing production of many important factors for healthy skin.

How does Dermaroller therapy work?

The concept of skin needling or collagen induction therapy is based on the skin’s natural ability to repair itself whenever it encounters physical damage, such as cuts, burns and other abrasions.

Immediately after an injury occurs to the skin, our body reuses the damaged collagen and elastin fibres as well as other damaged skin components to produce new ones.

Skin needling allows for controlled induction of the skin’s self repair mechanism by creating micro-“injuries” in the skin which trigger new collagen synthesis, yet does not pose the risk of permanent scarring.

Skin needling provides results similar to laser resurfacing, Fraxel® and chemical skin peels but at a lower cost and with little or no downtime.

The Dermaroller creates thousands of tiny puncture wounds to the skin which induces the release of growth factors that stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin. Creating dermal damage without removal of the healthy epidermis, as with other resurfacing techniques, means the healing time is rapid and does not cause any comparable discomfort.

Results are quick and will last.

Am I a good candidate for Dermaroller treatment?

If you suffer from various skin conditions such as wrinkles, scars, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, cellulite or stretch marks, you may benefit from Dermaroller therapy.

What are the Dermaroller advantages over other skin therapies?
  • Suitable for all skin types
  • Does not cause skin damage (no ablation/removal of the epidermis)
  • Does not induce skin sensitivity to UV light
  • Does not pose a risk of permanent skin discolouration
  • Can be used on thin skin formerly treated with chemical peels and laser
  • Can be used on the face, neck, decollete and any other parts of the body requiring treatment
  • Cost effective treatment alternative
  • Short or no healing time
What happens during a Dermaroller treatment?

Thirty minutes prior to the start of your treatment, we will use a topical anaesthetic to numb your skin.

Dr Geraldine Jain will use a Dermaroller medical device to produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly – often in the same day.

It will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 20 – 30 minutes for the  Dermaroller Therapy treatment.

CIT Therapy uses the Dermaroller, a high quality sterile  medical device.

The device penetrates the skin with thousands of microscopic needle-columns, which encourages the skin’s natural repair process. As the skin regenerates, new collagen and skin cells are formed and blood supply is enhanced.

Dr Geraldine Jain recommends that your Dermaroller Therapy consists of a series of 2 – 3 Dermaroller treatment with approximately 6 weeks between them.

In the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary  to extend your  CIT Therapy.

How long is the recovery?

With recovery often taking place the same day as the treatment is carried out, you will just look like you’ve had moderate sunburn following your Dermaroller Therapy session.

You’ll be advised to treat the skin gently until the redness has cleared.

When will I see results and how long does Dermaroller treatment last?

After a Dermaroller Therapy treatment your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis.

This takes time as new collagen is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced. It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months, providing you with a natural and long lasting enhancement.

In the first weeks the skin will normally look brighter and more vibrant and about six weeks later the regeneration and repair process can tighten the skin and reduce pigmentation.

The process will continue over the following months, providing natural and long lasting enhancement.

Up to three sessions, six weeks apart, are usually recommended. Discuss more details with Dr. Geraldine Jain during consultation

Botulinum Toxin-A (BTA) Injection (FAQs)

Where do you put the BTA?

The frown line between the eyebrows is caused by the action of a muscled called the corrugator. You can feel this muscle as a thickening just below the inside of your eyebrows, when you purposefully make yourself frown. Injecting BTA directly into the corrugator muscle stops your ability to draw your eyebrows together when you frown, resulting in the gradual fading of the frown line.

When does BTA start to work, and how long does it last?

The results of BTA treatment start to appear in three to ten days. The treated muscles will gradually regain their action over three to five months. When the frown line starts to reappear, a simple repeat treatment is all that is necessary to maintain the desired results. Please contact us for more details.

Who can perform BTA treatment?

BTA must be performed under the direction of a physician. Dr Geraldine Jain is trained, certified, and experienced.

Is treatment effective for men and women?

Yes.

How much time does a BTA treatment take?

A few minutes only.

Is the treatment painful?

There is very little discomfort. Often, patients do not feel the tiny injection at all.

Who injects the BTA?

All BTA injections are done at our medical centre by Dr Geraldine Jain herself. We do not allow nurses or other “injectors” to perform the procedure, simply because we want to ensure you have the safest and most effective treatment available.

Fotofacial RF Skin Rejuvenation

How does the FotoFacial rejuvenate my skin?

The Laser uses gentle light and electric energies to restore skin to a more youthful state. Brown spots (pigmented imperfections) from sun damage and aging, red blotchiness from spider vessels or rosacea (vascular imperfections), and rough skin texture will improve over a treatment series.

Is the treatment  safe?
Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the Laser technology that make it unparalleled for skin safety, without compromising effectiveness for treatment. There are no long-term health hazards from light or electric energies used. Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adverse effects.

What kind of results can I expect from fotofacial treatment?

Each Laser treatment will result in gradual lightening and improvement of pigmented and vascular imperfections. Textural improvements are achieved toward the end of the treatment series.

How frequently do I need fotofacial treatments?

Treatments are repeated every month for a total of 5 treatments.

Does the fotofacial treatment hurt?

The sensation is often described as a “hot pinch” or “snapping” feeling. The sensation only lasts for fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. Most people tolerate treatment without topical anesthetic, but individuals who are more sensitive may prefer to have the skin numbed before treatment.

What happens after each fotofacial treatment?

Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The improvement in pigmented and vascular irregularities can often be appreciated by the time you return for your next treatment a month later. Brown spots temporarily go darker before they lighten.

Who should get fotofacial treatment for Skin Rejuvenation?

Anyone who wants to improve the signs of sun damage and aging in the skin, such as pigmented and vascular irregularities and uneven or rough skin texture. Skin rejuvenation can be done on the face, neck, chest, hands, and arms. Discuss with Dr. Geraldine Jain during consultation

Laser Hair Removal

How does the Laser get rid of my hair?

The Laser uses gentle light and electric energies to damage the hair follicle. This disables the follicle from growing hair, which means that gradually, over several treatments, there is a permanent reduction in the amount of hair in that area.

Is the hair removal treatment safe?

Treatment is very safe for the skin. There are many advances in the Laser technology that make it one of the safest hair removal systems available for all skin colors. There are no long term health hazards from light or electric energies used in the Laser. Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adverse effects.

What kind of results can I expect from our hair removal treatment?

Each Laser hair removal treatment will result in less hair coming back, as well as hair growing progressively lighter in color, finer, and slower-growing. It takes more than 1 treatment to affect all the follicles growing in an area. Most people achieve satisfactory clearance after 4-8 treatments, but individual results vary depending on medical and genetic factors. Lighter-colored hair may require more treatments than darker-colored hair.

How frequently do I need hair removal treatments?

The treatments are usually performed every 2-3 months, but this depends on individual factors (hair cycle growth) that Dr. Geraldine Jain will discuss with you during consultation.

Does the hair removal treatment hurt?

The sensation is often described as a ‘hot pinch’ or ‘snapping’ feeling. The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward. Most people tolerate treatment without any topical anesthetic cream, which may be used to numb the skin from feeling sensation for very sensitive individuals.

What happens after each hair removal treatment?

Temporary pinkness in the area lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment. The treated area will ?shed? some hairs over the next 3-4 weeks, and you may experience a period of hairlessness in the area while you wait for your next treatment.

Who should get Laser treatment for Hair Removal?

Anyone who wants a solution to shaving, waxing, plucking, or electrolysis. There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment, which will be discussed with Dr. Geraldine Jain during consultation.

IPL+RF Acne Treatment

How does the IPL + RF acne treatment work?

The IPL uses a specific spectrum of light that targets the bacteria that actually causes acne.  When this bacteria proliferates in clogged pores it can cause bumpy and inflamed acne lesions.  The  AC laser combines light and gentle radiofrequency energies to decrease proliferation of acne causing bacteria, and may also affect the sebaceous gland from overproduction of oil and promote healing of the skin after acne breakouts.

Is the treatment  safe?

Treatment is very safe for all skin tones, even very dark skin.  There are many advances in the laser technology that make it one of the safest acne treatment systems available.  There are no long-term health hazards from light or radiofrequency energies used in the Aurora.  Both have been used for decades in medicine, surgery, and aesthetics without adversity.

What kind of results can I expect from the treatment?

Over a series of treatments , most patients notice a faster healing time of existing acne lesions.  Frequency and severity of acne lesions should subside as the treatments go on.  As well, ongoing treatment can help to prevent acne breakouts and promote skin healing after acne breakouts, by evening out skin tone and texture.

How frequently do I need treatments?

Treatments are done twice a week for four – six weeks.  Each treatment session takes approximately 15 minutes.  After the initial series of treatments, your clinician may prescribe additional treatments spread out over a longer interval time to fine tune your therapy and help maintain the results.

Does the treatment hurt?

The sensation is often described as a “hot pinch,” or “snapping” feeling.  The sensation only lasts for a fraction of a second, and you may feel warmth or a tingling sensation for a short time afterward.  The cooling tip that touches the skin surface makes the treatment both comfortable and safe.  Most patients do not use topical anesthetic to numb the skin for this procedure.

What happens after each treatment?

Temporary pinkness in the skin lasts a very short time, and most people return to work or normal activities immediately after treatment.  Every patient responds differently, but most patients report that they notice improvement as early as three weeks into the treatment series.

Who should get  treatment for acne?

Anyone who wants an alternative to traditional topical or oral therapies for acne, or who have not responded to traditional acne solutions.  Acne on the face, chest, and back are all treatable.  There are a few medical conditions that contraindicate people from treatment, which will be discussed with Dr. Geraldine Jain during consultation.

What is a Salicylic Chemical Peel?

A Salicylic chemical peel is ideal for use on heavily clogged pores and people with oily skin and acne. A Salicylic chemical peel is available in 3%/15%/25%. It is recommended that you begin with 15% salicylic before you advance to 25%.

What is a TCA Chemical Peel?

A TCA chemical peel is recommended for use on damaged skin including:

•             Hyperpigmentation

•             Sun Damage

•             Pre-Cancerous Lesions

•             Acne

•             Lines

•             Lip Creases

•             Freckling

TCA is applied in multiple layers. Begin with 1 layer and work up to 3-5 layers before moving up to a higher percentage.

•             12.5%: Beginers and Sensitive Skin (1 layer)

•             20%: Advanced (3-5 layers)

•             30%: Professional (1 layer)

•             Diluted percentages eq. to scale above.

How Do I Prepare for a Chemical Peel?

Always prepare your skin for at least 2 weeks prior to utilizing a chemical peel for best results. If you are prone to hyper-pigmentation you should use the Fading Gel to help “turn-down” the melanin production in your skin. RetinA, retinol and glycolic acid based serums are all preparation products. A two-week preparation does not guarantee you will not have any pigmentation issues arise during your peel, but it decreases your chances considerably.

What to Expect During a Chemical Peel

During a chemical peel, most patients experience a burning sensation that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. Cool compresses may be applied to help alleviate this stinging. A deeper peel may require pain medication during or after the procedure.

What to Expect After the Chemical Peel

Depending upon the type of chemical peel, a reaction similar to sunburn occurs following the procedure. Peeling usually involves redness, followed by scaling that ends within three to seven days. Mild peels may be repeated at one to four-week intervals until the desired clinical effect is achieved.

Medium-depth and deep peeling may result in swelling, as well as the presence of water blisters that may break, crust, turn brown, and peel off over a period of seven to 14 days. Medium-depth peels may be repeated in six to twelve months, if necessary.

You will work with your dermatologist to determine the depth of your peel. This joint decision can vary, depending upon the condition of your skin and the objectives of treatment.

It is important to avoid exposure to the sun for several months after a chemical peel since the new skin is fragile and more susceptible to complications. Your doctor will prescribe the proper follow-up care to reduce the tendency to develop abnormal skin colour after peeling.

What Are the Possible Complications of Chemical Peels?

In certain skin types, there is a risk of developing a temporary or permanent colour change in the skin after a chemical peel. Taking birth control pills, subsequent pregnancy, or family history of brownish discoloration on the face may increase the possibility of developing abnormal pigmentation.

Although low, there is a risk of scarring in certain areas of the face, and certain individuals may be more prone to scarring. If scarring does occur, it can usually be treated with good results.

There is a small risk of reactivation of cold sores in patients with a history of herpes outbreaks. This problem is treated with medication as prescribed by the doctor. Your doctor may also choose to give you medication before or immediately after the peel in order to prevent a herpes outbreak.

Prior to treatment, it is important for a patient to inform the physician of any past history of keloids (scar tissue overgrowth created at the site of a skin injury) or unusual scarring tendencies, as well as any history of X-rays treatments to the face or recurring cold sores.

Micro-Dermabrasion

What is Micro-Dermabrasion?

Micro-Dermabrasion, involves the use of minute crystals that are sprayed with a precise amount of force over the surface of the skin. The crystals are then vacuumed off along with the accumulation of dead skin cells resulting in the disappearance of an otherwise dull or sallow look. MDA is a safe, non-surgical approach to skin care, without the use of lasers or acids. Results are cumulative, and improvement increases with the number of treatments.

Before the Treatment After the Treatment

What are the results of Micro-Dermabrasion?

Micro-Dermabrasion treatments result in rejuvenation of aged skin and improvement in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, scars, and stretch marks. After a treatment, you can expect your skin to have a pink glow that usually last from 30 minutes to 6 hours.

What are Micro-Dermabrasion treatments like?

Micro-Dermabrasion is safe on any skin color or type. During the treatment, micro-crystals are sprayed out and vacuumed up through a hand piece held at a precise angle to the skin. This results in a gentle to more aggressive abrasion of the top layers of skin, depending on the desired result or goal. Treatments usually last approximately ten to thirty minutes and can be done on any part of the body.

When should I have additional treatments?

Additional treatments are recommended from one to four weeks, again depending on the goal. The number of treatments for maximum results is two to twelve. Many people like to have maintenance Micro-Dermabrasion treatments each season to keep skin healthy and glowing

Ultrasound Fat Cavitation

The hand piece is slowly rotated over the target area transmitting radio waves through the upper layers of the skin to the dermis, heating the dermis to between 40 & 50 degrees Celsius without burning the skin surface.

•Ultrasound Cavitation: 6 – 10 treatments spaced 3 days apart

•Skin Tightening: 6 – 10 treatments spaced 3 days apart
